We tell you
our story

Us,
Fratelli Rau

Ours is a story that began in 1926, when a family tradition was born, rooted in authenticity and care for the products offered by the Sardinian land. A commitment that has never stopped, passing through three generations who have successively led the company, bringing it among the best Italian producers of wines and liqueurs recognized throughout the world.

RAU is a family that understands the importance of innovation and the value of technology, today boasting a modern and cutting-edge company that proudly preserves its passion for genuineness and a deep bond with its own connection to the territory.

“We continue to think as our grandfather and our father did: the raw material must be respected, following its times and its characteristics is not a limitation, but a strength.” We cultivate only native grape varieties, in their pure form. Vermentino, Cannonau and Carignano are the best known, but also cultivars present in just a few hectares, such as Cagnulari.

We have chosen the best territories and exposures for the different grape varieties, both near and far from our estate. Tres Montes, in northern Sardinia, for its sandy soils and proximity to the sea; Usini, with calcareous, mineral-rich soils and a strong temperature range; Sant’Antioco, where on the whitest sand, the vines are still cultivated as bush-trained plants.

The vineyards of Tenuta L’Ariosa are nestled in the unspoiled Sardinian hinterland, where stone and sea meet, listening to the gentle song of the breezes that blow across Sardinia. A unique territory, home to only native cultivars, trained on trellises or as bush vines, of rare intensity and complexity.

An oenological journey inspired by the desire to explore the great potential of noble wine production, for which the finest cultivation and winemaking techniques are expertly employed. Low yields per hectare, hand harvesting and rigorous bunch selection characterize the work in the vineyard, followed by careful attention in the cellar to the subsequent stages of pressing, fermentation and aging, during which rules and timing are guided by modern technology and ancient wisdom. This is the story of our land, this is the story of Tenuta L’Ariosa.
